We believe variety is the spice of life, so it’s in that spirit that we’ve put together a bountiful Bucket List packed with some of the loveliest flavours and findings life on the South Shore has to offer. Oh yes! We’ve curated a day’s worth of wonderful for you, filled with great spots to see and enjoy – from the tried and true to the cherished and new!
We’ll start off the list with a truly yummy breakfast as only The Savary Plate Eatery & Pizzeria can make it. The much beloved hub in the heart of Hubbards serves up incredible meals all day long complete with east coast favourites, always awesome daily specials and don’t even get us started on all their delicious desserts, but when it comes to their breakfasts… well, there’s no better way to start your day!

From there you’ll hang a left along the Lighthouse Route and head towards one of the world’s most famous and photographed of its kind. The lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove marks the northern most tip of our South Shore region and tops everyone’s MUST-SEE List. Built back in 1915, Peggy’s Point Lighthouse enjoys the most beautiful backdrop and just recently a wonderful new walkway that allows for even more spectacular views.
Be sure to stroll through the picturesque fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. That’s where you’ll discover stellar new store called Holy Mackerel. Filled to the brim with a specially curated collection of unique products and crafts by over 100 Atlantic Canadian artisans and vendors. Once you finished shopping it’ll be time to hit the road and head back to Hubbards, so that you can enjoy the loveliest lunch at the newest spot in town – The Gratto Restaurant! Dig in to their incredible smokin’ smoked pulled pork nacho board and beef brisket tacos, their seafood dips or delicious daily specials. Chef April Gratto is always creating the most scrumptious dishes with the freshest local ingredients – from land and sea!
Dine inside their edible market or sit out in their beautiful beer garden. You can even grab something to go as they cater to the beach crowd too with awesome offerings like their signature Barbecuterie Box you’ve just got to taste to believe. After that it’s time to take a spin around Route 329 dubbed by the locals – the Aspotogan Peninsula. Renowned for its ocean side scenery and quiet coastal communities the Aspotogan loop is also where you’ll discover Bayswater Beach Provincial Park complete with a lakeside picnic area and large white-sand beach. Bayswater is the perfect spot to spend the afternoon relaxing, swimming, and soaking in all that South Shore sunshine and salt air.
From there we’ll direct you to continue on along Route 329 completing the Aspotogan Loop and before circling back towards Hubbards so that you top off your Tried and True, Cherished and New Bucket List at the legendary Shore Club. Cherished to be sure of it as folks have been flocking to the supper club ever since they opened back in 1946 – for the seafood feast of a lobster supper and their fabulous line up of entertainment too. In fact there has been a live band on stage every single Saturday night of the summer since they 1946 making The Shore Club “Nova Scotia’s Last Great Dance Hall.” You’ve just got to experience it all for yourself and please – tell ‘em we sent ya!
