Like a trip to Sandy Point Lighthouse – the beacon of beauty situated on the sand spit just off the coast in Shelburne Harbour. Built back in 1903 the long-serving lighthouse may no longer be suitable for navigational purposes but its beloved light still shines for all those to see and enjoy. You can actually walk to the sentimental structure on foot in low tide – making for the most marvellous pictures to post or frame. The friendly folks of the Sandy Point Recreational Centre hold regular breakfasts to support their care taking efforts – so be sure to see and explore this gem during your visit. You’ll want to walk along Shelburne’s waterfront too where it feels like stepping back in time. That’s a trip through history captured and celebrated in the amazing Museums by the Sea. From boat building to barrel making the town embraces its past for all to see. The stately homes and historical buildings you’ll discover along Dock Street feature 18th century architecture and have provided the perfect place for period films and TV productions throughout the years including the forthcoming mini-series for the Disney Channel WASHINGTON BLACK.
