Come to Your Senses
We’ve all grown quite accustomed to using GPS to get around. Hard to imagine it now but before the global positioning system was made available for public use back in 1983 we old folks actually used paper maps. Incredibly hard to refold but other than asking for directions – it was the most convenient way to navigate your journey. Since the beginning of humankind, however, a person’s means of navigating experiences was left to their 5 senses – SIGHT, HEARING, TASTE, TOUCH and SMELL. And so it is with each of those in mind that we created this Come to Your Senses Bucket List loaded with Liverpool delights.
Now to be fair there are plenty of absolutely breathtaking SIGHTS in the Liverpool area so narrowing it down on that particular sense is next to impossible. How about say we let you in on one of the oldest lovely things to SEE like the Fort Point Lighthouse. A welcome sight for every sailor who’s goal it was to navigate the inner harbour to the Mersey River. It also served as a signal station – when during the American Revolution – a fort with a blockhouse was erected and armed with cannons to protect the harbour from Privateers. Built all the way back in 1855 it the fourth oldest surviving Lighthouse in Nova Scotia and while it was decommissioned back in 1989 folks still flock to Fort Point year round to enjoy the pretty park and the gorgeous views of Liverpool harbour – and Coffin Island lighthouse too. Admission is FREE as is the chance to operate that old hand-cranked foghorn – originally used to signal incoming vessels. And if that SOUNDS like music to your ears then you’re going to love the next stop on our Come to Your Senses Bucket list.
