Ever wonder what it would be like to sail a Tall Ship for a day? Discover the thrill of becoming a crew member on Nova Scotia’s iconic Sailing Ambassador, Bluenose II – be a Deckhand for a Day!
Get suited up in your Crew attire before setting the sails and departing from Lunenburg Harbour, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Feel the thrill of taking the wheel, handling sail, standing watch, and learning knots and splicing, alongside the schooner’s regular crew, while sailing around the beautiful Mahone Bay Islands. You will also learn how to properly anchor a 300-ton schooner!
The Deckhand for a Day Experience Includes:
- Safety orientation and a brief talk about the history of Bluenose by the crew
- Lunch onboard
- Day of hands-on sailing, alongside the schooner’s regular crew
- Exclusive ‘Crew for a Day’ t-shirt, jacket, and hat that you get to keep as a souvenir

Advance booking required. Please note that this experience is limited to 12-14 adults, aged 16 or older. If cruises are cancelled due to adverse weather, a full refund will be issued and effort will be made to rebook the cruise. Cancellations must be received 24 hours in advance.
